Before I tell you about this awesome family, I would like to establish rules for my new blog....
1) Please feel free to comment. I love to hear what people think!
2) Blogs are usually used to blow smoke... but I am here to learn. I am here to try and see if it is at all possible for me to become as good as the "real" photographers. So, if you are going to "BLOW SMOKE" please do so, however, please help me to be better too.
3) If you don't have something nice to say, say it anyway! If you are more comfortable emailing me, because you don't want everyone to know you are being critical, that is FINE I understand. I chose to KEEP IT REAL on my blog posts, and that makes some people uncomfortable. So email me anytime!
4) If you chose not to abide by these rules, then I will throw you into the fiery pit with all the junky pictures I take, and you can yell when you are ready to play by the rules!
These are our first friends in Virginia Beach. They are here only for a few months while training to be an Officer in the Marines, but while they are here, we are having fun playing. The mom is pregnant and due to deliver in August, and is so absolutely adorable as a pregnant gal. I really want to shoot maternity pictures for her. The problem is she doesn't think she is as adorable as she really is. Which I think is pretty typical with most expecting mommies.
About the pictures... I am learning how to play on CS3. Thus far, is the most stressful step. I am not good at art work on computers. I found this action that I thought was fun. Not really typically my style, but I don't know how to convey my style yet, so this is how they turned out. There is so much to learn, and I am trying to tell myself to be patient, and take baby steps. UGH! It's too hot for baby steps! And really, I am too old for that! But, I'm trying. And just like life, you have to do a little bit at a time, then come back and tackle it again. So, thanks again for visiting! I hope there is more to come!

I like the vintage feel that these pictures have. it is a different style...sometimes i feel like photographers are starting to look all the same but this style is a fresher look...even though it is supposed be "old" looking. i like the pictures that don't even look close to being staged like the 2nd one..super cute. that is a good picture to blow up and put on the wall....no really they should totally do that.
I really do like the "timeless" quality of these pics Kirstynn - you've got real talent...PLEASE stick with it!

I really like these Kirstynn! I've seen the style where the baby is focused on and the parents are behind unfocused, and I really like it. The group one is really great and not staged.
Love the "vintage romance" in these. She was beautiful when I saw her in church and she is beautiful in these pix. I can hear the waves crashing and the whistle of the grass. Pic 2 says "DAD ROCKS!" Just keepin' it real.

I don't know your e-mail so this may be long winded. If this is something you really enjoy then stick with it. I just got serious about photography about 6 months ago. I took 2 photoshop classes (beginner and advanced) and that was critical. Taking pictures is 50% of the fun but editing your pictures is where the real magic happens and in todays photography world it's a must. Learn as much as you can about "photography" and read your camera manual. Learn to take pictures in the manual mode!!! Having good actions/tools are very important and help save time. I'm late to comment, standard for me. :) I think these both rock. Your exposures are great - and that's half the battle with beach photography. Your composition is fab - and I'm even more impressed knowing that you're using a camera lens that requires manual focus - dang, that's hard! Love the processing and that you took the time to play with the processing - you will find styles that become uniquely you! Looking forward to seeing what you do at the beach wedding on Saturday!

WAY to go!! These are super fantastic!! I agree with the one person who commented that taking pictures is 50% of the fun. But editing is where things REALLY happen! I LIKE taking pictures. I LOVE editing! I have a huge passion for it!! I think you'll find the same to be true for you also, as you continue to practice.
Photoshop took me a good couple of years to truly finally master. And it was mostly trial and error. I took a couple of online classes and entered a lot of photography contests, but again - most of it was practice and trial and error.
The main advice I have is don't give up! If you get frustrated, just keep plugging away. Especially if you find this is something that you truly have a passion for! It will just come naturally!
